About Charming Doods

After retiring from years of breeding Yorkshire Terriers, In 2015 we purchased Prince Charming, our very first Goldendoodle. Because of his loving companionship, adorable teddy bear appearance, intelligence, and big goofy personality we were hooked! Falling madly in love with this hybrid breed, we even named Charming Doods after him.

Since then, we have continued our focus on raising standard Multi-Generational Goldendoodles. We are a South Texas family located in Bay City,Tx whose doods are born and raised in our home-with lots of love and compassion, early stimulation, and excellent puppy curriculum- where they are exposed to all aspects of life, which include being socialized to children and learning basic commands. We do not operate a large kennel facility, nor do we rely on guardian homes. All of our breeding parents are first and foremost our family and our full responsibility.

Multigenerational Goldendoodles are often considered the “best” by some due to specific traits that have been carefully developed through multiple generations of breeding.  Here are some reasons why multigenerational Goldendoodles are highly valued:

1. Predictable Coat and Hypoallergenic Traits

 • Coat Type: By the time a Goldendoodle reaches multigenerational status, breeders can more reliably produce puppies with the desired coat type, typically wavy. This coat is less likely to shed, making them ideal for families with allergies.

 • Hypoallergenic: The hypoallergenic qualities of a multigenerational Goldendoodle tend to be more consistent, as shedding is minimized compared to first-generation (F1) Goldendoodles. These dogs are less likely to trigger allergic reactions.

2. Consistent Temperament

 • Even Temperament: Over multiple generations, breeders can select dogs with the calm, friendly, and social temperament that Goldendoodles are known for. Multigenerational Goldendoodles tend to be predictable in terms of temperament—intelligent, gentle, and good with families.

 • Balanced Traits: The balance between the Golden Retriever’s friendly, loyal nature and the Poodle’s intelligence and trainability tends to be more fine-tuned in multigenerational dogs, resulting in a well-rounded companion.

3. Improved Health and Longevity

 • Selective Breeding: Responsible breeders of multigenerational Goldendoodles work hard to minimize the genetic health issues common in both Poodles and Golden Retrievers. Over multiple generations, breeders can screen for and breed out hereditary conditions, resulting in healthier puppies.

 • Hybrid Vigor: While first-generation hybrids benefit from hybrid vigor, multigenerational Goldendoodles continue to benefit if bred responsibly, often having fewer inherited health issues.

4. Better for Specific Needs

 • Service Dogs: Many multigenerational Goldendoodles are bred specifically for service or therapy work. Their consistent temperament and intelligence make them ideal candidates for training as therapy dogs or guide dogs.

 • Family Pets: They’re also highly sought after as family pets due to their gentle nature and ability to fit into homes with children, seniors, or other animals.

5. More Customizable Characteristics

 • Desired Size: Multigenerational breeding allows for more control over the size of the dogs. Whether someone wants a mini, medium, or standard Goldendoodle, multigenerational litters are more likely to produce puppies that meet size expectations.

 • Coat Color: Coat color can also be more predictable in multigenerational Goldendoodles, allowing breeders to offer a wider range of colors like cream, apricot, red, or black, depending on what families are seeking.

6. Less Variation in First-Year Traits

 • Fewer Surprises: With earlier-generation Goldendoodles (F1 or F1b), there can be significant variation in traits such as coat, size, and temperament, even within the same litter. Multigenerational Goldendoodles tend to have fewer surprises as they grow up, making them more predictable as they mature into adults.

While many people love the qualities of Goldendoodles across all generations, those looking for more predictable characteristics—whether it be coat type, size, or temperament—often gravitate toward multigenerational Goldendoodles. These dogs are highly adaptable, often healthier, and consistent, making them an excellent choice for families, service work, and allergy sufferers alike.

The health of our dogs and their offspring is very important to us. Therefore, all parents have had their hips, elbows, and eyes checked, genetic tested, and are all properly vetted. Our main priority is ensuring the health and well-being of our puppies from birth until they leave with their forever family - and beyond!

We truly want you to love and enjoy your Goldendoodle as much as we do! Thank you for visiting and getting to know all about our Doods. We hope to hear from you soon.
